Leeds Private Practice Market Review
Unsurprisingly one of the most frequently asked questions by candidates and clients alike is how we are finding the market at the moment. With this in mind we have been analysing our statistics for the past nine months and we have found some surprising results.
Despite assumptions that property recruitment would be limited due to the economic market we have found that almost a third of our placements have been within commercial property. Other busy areas have been employment or commercial litigation, there has been a steady flow of opportunities within personal injury and we are certainly seeing more opportunities within ‘corporate’ areas.
There are positive signs of growth and over 70% of the opportunities we have found for candidates have been due to expansion within teams rather than replacement. We do feel the market is recovering well and 35% of the candidates we have found jobs for were previously out of work.
Along with growth in opportunities we have found that just under half of our candidates have received an increase in salary with the average increase being 17%. This is clearly reflective of the increasing salary pressure within the market.
Paralegals and Legal Executives
In terms of the Paralegal and Legal Executive market our busiest areas have been in Personal Injury with just under half of our placements being in that area. Encouragingly, our ILEX division have managed to get 61% of their candidates an increase in their salary with the average salary increase being a massive 31%.
The market is definitely growing for Paralegal and Legal Executives and almost three quarters of the opportunities were due to teams expanding. Disappointingly however only a small amount of the candidates we placed in new roles were able to retrain into new areas, this is however unsurprising due to the amount of competition in the market.
Moving forward we anticipate busy areas being corporate and employment for Solicitors and residential conveyancing and personal injury for Paralegals and Legal Executives.
We hope you find our view of the market helpful, but if you do have any questions do not hesitate to get in touch with a member of our Private Practice Team.
