Unusual opportunity for a candidate in the Intellectual Property field to gain a wide range of commercial and IP experience through this key new role.
Our client is a leading technology business working across a diverse range of relevant and commercial industries. The majority of the people based on site have a Mechanical Engineering or scientific background and in the main, their IP work is currently managed by outside counsel. With your Engineering background and interest in the IP sector, you will work on invention capture and protection. The majority of your contact will therefore be with the R&D function and with inventors themselves helping to shape the protection policy for the business.
Key accountabilities will include:
• Capture IP across the company’s activities
• Work closely with the instructed Patent Practice to prepare & file new Patents as well as developing appropriate responses to IP examination reports
• Develop and implement the businesses IP Practice
• Day to Day Management of the IP budget
• Organise and review patent and background technology searches
• Working closely with the existing engineering development department to complete other IP related tasks
The preferred applicant will have a background in engineering and will have some recognized IP qualifications – trainee, part or fully qualified Attorneys considered.
Please note, this role will initially be offered as a fixed term contract. Whilst it is highly plausible that a permanent position could arise, this is not guaranteed in the first instance.
