Changes to PI and what this means for the market

Tagged In:  Personal Injury

Changes to the personal injury market have been on the horizon for some time now, but in February 2017, the government confirmed that it is looking to introduce reforms on 1st October 2018. When changes come into any market, we tend to see this have an effect on recruitment processes in some way, for example when the Jackson reforms were introduced, we found that some firms became reluctant to recruit on a permanent basis. As a result, these firms turned to temporary recruitment in order to cover immediate caseloads, which allowed them to deal with the extra work that came through, without having to commit to a permanent candidate in a changing market.

Many firms use temporary workers in situations such as these and locum positions can benefit candidates as well as firms. Working in this way offers both sides more flexibility, and locum roles also tend to be paid on an hourly rate, which depending on how you work, can also prove to be more lucrative for both candidate and client.

Have the upcoming changes affected you at all? If so, please let us know as we will be more than happy to discuss the market with you in more detail, or talk through options if you think interim work could be of benefit to you.
