Compliance & Legal Management Overview
Having assisted firms on compliance and legal management roles for a number of years in conjunction with pure fee earner legal recruitment, we have been well positioned to identify the growth in these roles and consequently have a specialist division in this area. Both changes to the Solicitors Code of Conduct and shifts in the dynamics of law firms to take managerial responsibilities away from Partners and into the hands of Business Operations specialists are just a few factors which have contributed to the increase in Compliance & Legal Management Roles.
Transform your career in Compliance & Legal Management
We act for Law Firms on a broad range of roles, including:
Compliance & Risk Roles
Roles include: Risk & Compliance Lawyers/Managers, Legal Auditors and Money Laundering Experts. In particular changes to the SRA have resulted in a significant increase in the number of legal compliance jobs available. Ultimately legal compliance experts are responsible for embedding and monitoring compliance and risk practices across the firm and are a vital component of a firm.
Practice Manager Roles
These roles continue to play an important role in smaller or medium sized firms and are always extremely varied in nature and are increasingly including compliance and risk responsibilities in addition to the more conventional duties associated with these roles, including: drafting/updating office procedures/staff handbooks, management of staff, implementing/maintaining quality systems and accreditations e.g. LEXCEL and assisting with IT.
Business Manager/ Operation Roles
The change in dynamics for some law firms away from a traditional law firm to a model which usually takes the format of removing managerial responsibilities from Partners and placing these into the hands of Business/Operations Managers are becoming more common. These roles vary considerably depending of type of firm and their needs, however, often involve operational change management, project planning, ensuring budgets are controlled, measuring and delivering KPIs and motivating staff.
Professional Support Lawyers
These roles continue to grow, particularly in the larger firms and are particularly common for commercial, corporate and litigation teams. These roles tend to suit Solicitors who enjoy researching, drafting, training staff, writing articles and keeping very close to changes in the law and feeding this information into the relevant documents.
