The Role

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a Banking & Finance solicitor to join a leading international law firm in Birmingham.

This position offers exposure to some of the most sophisticated and innovative finance transactions in the market, advising major financial institutions, investment banks, funds, corporates, and alternative lenders on both domestic and cross-border matters. Working within a highly regarded team, you will gain hands-on experience across a broad range of derivatives, structured finance, and capital markets transactions while collaborating with recognised experts in the field.

This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified solicitor through to 3 years' PQE seeking to develop a specialist practice within a market-leading finance team that is known for its technical excellence, collaborative culture, and commitment to developing junior talent.

The Work

  • Advising clients on a wide range of derivatives transactions, including interest rate, foreign exchange, commodity, and credit derivatives.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating ISDA Master Agreements, Credit Support Annexes, and related trading documentation.
  • Supporting structured finance transactions, including securitisations, receivables financings, and asset-backed lending structures.
  • Advising on collateral arrangements, securities financing transactions, and margin requirements.
  • Assisting clients with regulatory matters affecting derivatives and structured products.
  • Working closely with colleagues across banking, capital markets, restructuring, tax, and regulatory teams on complex multi-disciplinary transactions.
  • Managing transaction processes and coordinating with clients and advisers on domestic and international matters.
  • Building strong client relationships and contributing to business development initiatives.

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with between NQ and 3 years' PQE.
  • Experience gained within a Banking & Finance, Derivatives, Structured Finance, or Capital Markets team.
  • Exposure to ISDA documentation and derivatives transactions would be advantageous.
  • Strong technical, drafting, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to client service.
