About the role

This role involves managing a diverse caseload of complex childcare matters, including:

  • Care Proceedings and Supervision Orders
  • Special Guardianship Orders
  • Private law children’s orders such as Child Arrangements, Prohibited Steps, and Specific Issue Orders

As a Child Care Solicitor and Panel Member, you will provide expert legal advice, advocate in court, and support the team with developing best practice. The position allows you to use your intricate knowledge of public law proceedings, contribute to positive outcomes for children, and support junior colleagues.

The ideal candidate

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • Minimum 5 years PQE as a qualified Solicitor
  • Law Society Children Law Accreditation
  • Proven experience with public law childcare proceedings and court advocacy
  • Experience handling Legal Aid cases
  • Strong client care and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Experience mentoring junior team members
  • Calm, professional demeanour and solutions-focused mindset
