About the role
This full-time, permanent opportunity focuses on managing your own caseload of civil claims against police and public bodies, including matters such as unlawful arrest, false imprisonment, and human rights breaches. Your responsibilities will involve:
- Running claims from inception through to trial, including civil jury trials
- Conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, witness statements, and legal advice
- Negotiating settlements and representing clients in court when necessary
- Keeping abreast of legal developments in civil liberties and public law
- Working within a target-driven but supportive environment, collaborating with colleagues for successful case outcomes
The ideal candidate
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing your own civil litigation caseload, ideally in Part 7 work
- Strong litigation background with experience in multi-track cases and court trials
- Exceptional client care and attention to detail
- Excellent knowledge of CPR and pre-action procedures
- Proficient with case management systems such as Proclaim
- Able to work independently and part of a team, with excellent IT skills
- Re-training opportunities available for solicitors with at least 2 years civil litigation experience looking to specialise further
