Costs Negotiator - Hybrid

Our client is looking for a skilled costs negotiator to join a respected in-house legal team supporting a prominent insurance client from their Manchester City Centre office. You will be responsible for managing your own caseload of fixed recoverable costs and disputed disbursement matters (MOJ/Infant Approval), with a focus on timely and accurate case handling, strategic negotiation, and performance against key targets.
As a Costs Negotiator, you will:
- Review and analyse costs claimed: preparing detailed cost strategy reports.
- Draft points of dispute and respond to replies.
- Negotiate settlements within agreed parameters.
- Handle client correspondence and incoming telephone queries.
- Periodically review files in line with client expectations.
- Instruct counsel or conduct advocacy for detailed assessments where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate records and case management data.
- Support broader business decision-making through effective data handling.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in a similar costs negotiator role (claimant or defendant background welcomed).
- Understanding of the detailed assessment process, costs case law, and insurance litigation procedures.
- Proven ability to manage your own caseload and meet performance targets.
- Confident communication and client liaison skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise.
- IT proficiency and familiarity with legal case management systems.
