Debt Recovery Team Leader| Newcastle | £33k-£40k
We are currently working with a well-established regional law firm in the North East who are looking to appoint an experienced Team Leader to join their growing Commercial Debt Recovery team.
This is a rare opportunity for a Paralegal with a strong debt or commercial litigation background who has already gained some experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity and is now looking to develop this further.
The role
You will be part of an established Commercial Debt Recovery team, managing a busy portfolio of matters on behalf of commercial clients. Alongside your own caseload, you will have an important role in supporting the wider team and helping less experienced colleagues develop their skills.
Your day-to-day work will involve a mixture of:
- Managing commercial debt recovery matters through the different stages of the recovery process
- Advising on and progressing disputes before proceedings are issued
- Preparing and progressing County Court claims
- Obtaining judgments and dealing with enforcement
- Preparing client updates and reports and attending client meetings
- Taking responsibility for the day-to-day management of your files, including billing and payments
- Providing guidance and support to junior members of the team
- Sharing your technical knowledge and helping colleagues develop their litigation skills
About you
The successful candidate will be an experienced Paralegal with a strong grounding in litigation, together with previous experience of supervising or leading others.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience working within commercial or debt litigation
- At least 6 months' experience in a team leadership or supervisory role
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a high-volume caseload
- Confidence communicating with clients and managing client relationships
- Good commercial awareness
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach
- An interest in supporting and developing junior colleagues
