Leeds | 7+ years' PQE | Excellent quality work | Genuine opportunity to grow
Are you an experienced Employment Lawyer looking for a role that offers high-quality work, greater autonomy and the opportunity to play a meaningful part in the growth of a leading commercial law firm's presence in Leeds?
We are working with a highly regarded, financially successful UK law firm with an established, market-leading employment practice and ambitious plans for its continued growth. The firm is looking to strengthen its offering in Leeds and is interested in hearing from experienced employment lawyers who want to take the next step in their careers.
This is an opportunity to join a well-resourced, collaborative team with an excellent reputation, a strong client base and the platform to support your ambitions.
The opportunity
The role is flexible in its scope and could suit either an established Senior Associate or Legal Director seeking high-quality work and greater responsibility, or a Partner looking to develop and grow an employment practice in Leeds.
Depending on your experience and ambitions, you could:
-
Handle a varied caseload of high-quality employment matters, including complex advisory work, employment disputes, restructurings, TUPE, discrimination, investigations and senior executive issues.
-
Work with an established team of highly regarded employment specialists, benefiting from quality referrals, shared expertise and established client relationships.
-
Develop strong relationships with clients and colleagues across the wider firm, delivering commercially focused advice with a high degree of autonomy.
-
Contribute to the development of the firm's local employment offering, helping to build its profile and client relationships across Leeds and the wider Yorkshire market.
-
For a Partner-level appointment, take a leading role in developing the practice, winning new business, cross-selling into existing client relationships and building a team over time.
Who are we looking for?
We would welcome conversations with Employment Lawyers with at least 7 years' PQE who have strong technical ability, sound commercial judgement and a genuine interest in developing their careers.
You may be an established Senior Associate or Legal Director who wants to handle excellent-quality work with limited day-to-day supervision, or a Partner who sees the opportunity to build something meaningful within a supportive and financially strong firm.
You will ideally bring:
-
A strong background in employment law, including both advisory and contentious work.
-
The ability to manage matters independently and build trusted client relationships.
-
Excellent communication skills and a commercially pragmatic approach.
-
A collaborative mindset and an interest in working closely with colleagues across different practice areas.
-
For more senior candidates, an appetite for business development, client growth and practice leadership.
An existing following would be advantageous for a Partner appointment, but the opportunity may also appeal to someone with a strong network and a credible plan for developing new business.
Why consider this opportunity?
-
Quality: Join an established employment practice with a strong reputation for technical excellence and commercially focused advice.
-
A platform for growth: Benefit from existing expertise, client relationships and the wider firm's capabilities rather than having to build everything from scratch.
-
Autonomy: Take ownership of your work and client relationships, with the opportunity to shape your role around your strengths and ambitions.
-
Career progression: Explore a senior fee-earning role or a genuine practice-building opportunity, depending on your experience.
-
Collaborative culture: Work within a firm that values teamwork, long-term client relationships and the contribution of its people.
-
A growing Leeds presence: Be part of the continued development of a well-established commercial law firm in one of the UK's leading regional business centres.
