Key Responsibilities
Within this Employment Solicitor role, you will be managing your own caseload of Public Sector Employment matters for clients including education, housing and local authority bodies. Other duties may include:
- Attending Tribunal hearings for a wide variety of hearings, including:
- Unfair dismissal
- Discrimination
- TUPE
- Redundancy
- Safeguarding
- Providing clear written and verbal legal advice, and managing communications with clients, opponents, Tribunals and third parties to progress files.
- Accurate completion of legal tasks and documentation, within the area of expertise; this may include legal research analysis, drafting, and calculation of financial liability.
- Supporting the wider team by assisting colleagues on cases, contributing to departmental objectives, and collaborating across departments on joint matters and projects.
- Acting as a mentor to Solicitors, Trainees and Support Staff in the team, fostering professional growth and ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Contributing to continuous improvement and the development of the departmental business plan.
- Building strong client and stakeholder relationships, enhancing the Firm’s profile, and supporting business development.
About You
We are looking for people that can demonstrate the following:
Essential:
- Be qualified Solicitor or CILEX at 0-4 PQE level – if you are newly qualified, you will need to have at least 6 months previous experience within Employment law at a Paralegal level or undertook a seat in Employment law during your Training Contract
- Proven experience of handling own caseload, working to and managing deadlines, alongside the capability to generate fees in accordance with agreed targets
- Fantastic client care and communication skills
- Able to commute to Preston
Desirable
- Previous experience working on own advocacy
- Previous experience working with public sector clients
