Engineering Patent Attorney|Associate Level|Flex Location|Hybrid Working
A standout opportunity for an Engineering Patent Attorney
Are you a qualified Patent Attorney who enjoys getting to grips with sophisticated engineering technology and has a real passion for patent drafting?
This could be an excellent opportunity to join a specialist engineering team, working alongside experienced professionals on a varied portfolio of technically challenging patent matters for some highly recognised engineering businesses.
Rather than operating across a broad mix of technologies, the team has a clear engineering focus. This means you can build your practice around the type of hands-on, technically engaging work that originally attracted you to patent work.
The opportunity
You will take responsibility for a diverse portfolio of engineering inventions, with original drafting forming a significant part of your day-to-day work.
The role will involve:
- Preparing and developing high-quality patent applications for technically sophisticated inventions
- Advising on patent matters throughout their lifecycle
- Working closely with established clients and developing an understanding of their technologies and commercial objectives
- Managing a varied caseload while maintaining consistently high standards
- Working with colleagues across different teams and international offices
- Becoming part of a specialist group where engineering is at the heart of the practice
You will have the opportunity to work on technology that is tangible, commercially important and genuinely interesting, rather than being limited to one narrow area of engineering.
About you
We are particularly interested in speaking with qualified Patent Attorneys around NQ to 3 PQE, although applications from candidates outside this range may also be considered where there is a strong fit.
Most importantly, you should have:
- Strong experience in original patent drafting
- A solid track record of drafting both before and after qualification
- A genuine enthusiasm for engineering and technically complex inventions
- The ability to analyse challenging technical concepts and translate them into effective patent protection
- A conscientious and responsible approach to your work
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude
Experience of working directly with clients or advising well-known engineering businesses would be advantageous.
Why consider this opportunity?
This is an opportunity to join a highly regarded patent practice while becoming part of a dedicated engineering-focused team.
You can expect:
- A technically strong and varied client portfolio
- Significant exposure to original drafting
- The opportunity to work with leading engineering businesses
- Collaboration with colleagues internationally
- A supportive environment focused on high-quality work
- Hybrid and flexible working arrangements
- A comprehensive benefits package, including private medical insurance
- A culture that values inclusion, teamwork, curiosity and professional development
