This is an excellent opportunity for a family lawyer looking to join a supportive and established team, handling a varied matrimonial caseload and providing high-quality advice to clients during what can often be sensitive and challenging circumstances. The role offers the opportunity to take responsibility for your own matters, develop strong client relationships and continue progressing your career within a respected Family department.
The Role
- Managing a varied matrimonial caseload from initial instruction through to resolution
- Advising clients on divorce and separation
- Handling financial remedy matters arising from relationship breakdown
- Advising on the division of matrimonial assets, property, pensions and other financial interests
- Drafting applications, statements, consent orders and other legal documentation
- Negotiating financial settlements on behalf of clients
- Advising clients on options for resolving disputes, including negotiation and mediation
- Representing clients in court proceedings and hearings where required
- Providing clear, practical and empathetic advice throughout matters
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider Family team

Key Responsibilities
- Managing your own matrimonial caseload
- Handling divorce and separation matters
- Advising on financial remedy proceedings
- Dealing with financial disclosure and matrimonial assets
- Drafting correspondence, applications, statements and orders
- Negotiating financial settlements with opposing solicitors
- Preparing matters for hearings and representing clients where appropriate
- Liaising with counsel, experts and other professional advisers
- Maintaining accurate and compliant case records
- Providing excellent client care throughout sensitive matters
- Contributing to the continued development of the Family department
About You
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Family Solicitor with a strong background in matrimonial work and the confidence to manage their own caseload. You will have:
- Qualified Solicitor with previous Family Law experience
- Strong experience in matrimonial matters
- Experience handling divorce and financial remedy work
- Good knowledge of matrimonial finances and financial disclosure
- Experience managing your own caseload
- Strong drafting, negotiation and advocacy skills
- Excellent client care and communication skills
- Ability to provide clear and practical advice on sensitive issues
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines
- A proactive and professional approach
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team
- Ambition to develop and progress within a respected Family department
