This is an excellent opportunity for a senior Private Client Solicitor looking to take on a genuine leadership position, combining responsibility for the department with a high-quality caseload and strong client relationships. The role offers the opportunity to shape the continued growth of the Private Client team, develop junior lawyers and play a key role in the wider direction of the practice.
The Role
- Taking overall responsibility for the Private Client department
- Managing a high-quality caseload of private client matters
- Advising on wills, probate, trusts and estate administration
- Handling complex estate planning and inheritance tax matters
- Advising high-net-worth individuals and families where appropriate
- Overseeing and supporting other members of the team
- Providing technical guidance and supervision
- Developing and maintaining strong client and professional relationships
- Identifying opportunities for business development and department growth
- Contributing to the strategic direction of the wider Private Client practice

Key Responsibilities
- Leading the day-to-day operation of the Private Client department
- Managing your own caseload alongside leadership responsibilities
- Advising on wills, probate, estate administration and trusts
- Handling complex estate planning and inheritance tax matters
- Reviewing and overseeing more complex matters where appropriate
- Providing supervision, support and technical guidance to team members
- Monitoring departmental workflow, performance and quality standards
- Maintaining excellent standards of client care
- Developing relationships with existing and prospective clients
- Building professional referral networks and contributing to business development
- Identifying opportunities to grow the department
- Contributing to wider firm strategy and objectives
About You
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Private Client Solicitor with strong technical expertise and the leadership skills required to head an established department. You will have:
- Qualified Solicitor with significant Private Client experience
- Strong technical knowledge across wills, probate, trusts and estate planning
- Experience handling complex and high-value estates
- Strong knowledge of inheritance tax and estate planning
- Experience managing your own caseload with a high degree of autonomy
- Previous supervisory, management or leadership experience
- Excellent client care and relationship-building skills
- Strong communication, drafting and negotiation abilities
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of business development
- Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships
- A proactive and collaborative approach
- Ambition to play a key role in the continued growth of a Private Client department
