The Opportunity
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Associate to join a highly regarded Healthcare Litigation team in Birmingham.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the UK's leading defendant healthcare litigation practices, acting for NHS organisations on a broad range of Employer's Liability and Public Liability claims. You'll work on complex, high-value matters while becoming part of a collaborative and nationally recognised team with an outstanding reputation in the healthcare sector.
The role offers a varied caseload, significant client responsibility and the opportunity to work closely with experienced partners on strategically important litigation. You'll also play an active role in mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to the continued growth of the team.
The Role
You'll manage your own caseload of healthcare EL/PL claims while supporting partners on larger and more complex litigation.
Your work will include:
- Managing a varied caseload of Employer's Liability and Public Liability claims on behalf of NHS organisations
- Handling both Fast Track and Multi Track litigation
- Advising clients on liability, quantum and litigation strategy
- Drafting pleadings, witness statements, schedules and other key litigation documents
- Conducting detailed evidence reviews and advising on complex factual and legal issues
- Liaising directly with NHS clients, experts, counsel and other stakeholders
- Attending conferences, mediations and court hearings where appropriate
- Supervising and mentoring junior members of the team
- Building strong client relationships and delivering commercially focused legal advice
- Supporting business development initiatives and contributing to the continued success of the Healthcare practice
About You
This opportunity would suit a Senior Associate with at least 8 years' PQE and strong experience handling Employer's Liability and Public Liability litigation.
You'll ideally have:
- 8+ years' PQE in defendant EL/PL litigation
- Experience acting for healthcare clients, insurers or other large institutional clients would be advantageous
- Strong knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules
- Experience managing your own complex caseload with minimal supervision
- Excellent technical, drafting and analytical skills
- Strong communication and client relationship management abilities
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior lawyers
- A commercial, pragmatic and collaborative approach
- The ambition to play a key role within a growing national healthcare litigation team
