The Client
Sacco Mann is working along side a large, international energy sales, distribution and services business which buy, distribute and sell energy to businesses, households and transport customers, with a particularly strong position in off-grid energy and liquid fuels/gases. The group has an established and well regarded business which now has an opening for a commercial lawyer on a 12 month Fixed term Contract to cover a maternity leave.
The Role
The Legal Counsel will support the Senior Legal Counsel and wider Legal and Compliance team in providing high quality, practical legal advice to the Energy Management Services businesses, helping to enable growth, operational delivery and appropriate risk management across a diverse and developing portfolio.
Assisting the business manage legal risk in a clear and proportionate way, you’ll advise on a broad range of commercial, operational, regulatory and compliance matters, including customer and supplier contracts, funded energy efficiency schemes, solar and renewable energy projects, heat pump distribution, high-value EPC contracts, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), HVAC, backup power and related service arrangements.
The Person
This role requires a capable and proactive lawyer, typically with 2-4 years’ post-qualification experience, who can build strong relationships with business stakeholders, exercise sound judgement and escalate appropriately where matters are novel, complex or strategically significant.
The ideal candidate will have had a solid grounding in non-contentious commercial law and previous in-house experience is desirable, but not essential, as is any experience in energy, utilities, infrastructure, construction, consumer or regulated services sectors.

This is a 12-month contract, ideally commencing this autumn, and offered on a hybrid basis with some weekly presence on site in their offices in Cheshire.
