The Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Newly Qualified Solicitor to join the Commercial Litigation team of a highly regarded national law firm in Birmingham.

This is an ideal role for an ambitious junior lawyer looking to build their career within a successful disputes practice handling a broad range of complex and high-value commercial matters. Working alongside experienced litigators, you will gain exposure to high-quality work from day one, advising a diverse client base that includes national businesses, SMEs, entrepreneurs, and public sector organisations.

The team is known for its collaborative approach, technical excellence, and commitment to developing talent. As a newly qualified solicitor, you will receive ongoing support and mentoring while taking on increasing responsibility for your own matters.

The Work

  • Advising clients on a broad range of commercial disputes matters.
  • Assisting with breach of contract claims, shareholder and partnership disputes, professional negligence claims, and business-related conflicts.
  • Supporting senior lawyers on complex and high-value litigation proceedings.
  • Drafting correspondence, pleadings, witness statements, and court applications.
  • Managing disclosure exercises and reviewing key evidence.
  • Attending client meetings, mediations, hearings, and settlement negotiations.
  • Building strong client relationships and delivering commercially focused legal advice.
  • Working closely with colleagues across other practice areas to provide a seamless client service.

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor (NQ) with experience gained in Commercial Litigation during training.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident drafting and communication abilities.
  • Commercially aware with a practical approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Enthusiastic, driven, and keen to develop a long-term career in commercial disputes.
