A leading national Intellectual Property firm is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Patent Administrator / Paralegal to join its Manchester office, initially on a 12-month FTC. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a well-established, collaborative team, with genuine scope for the role to develop into a permanent position.
The Role
You will play a key role in supporting Attorneys across a wide range of patent, design, and trade mark matters, ensuring that critical deadlines are met and client portfolios are managed efficiently.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the filing and prosecution of UK, European, International, and PCT applications
- Monitoring formalities processes and maintaining accurate case records
- Assisting with assignments, recordals, and changes of name/address, including liaising with overseas associates
- Preparing correspondence to clients, IP offices, and agents, including standard reporting letters
- Managing Attorney deadlines and workloads, liaising with internal Records teams
- Instructing overseas agents on filings and handling associated formalities
- Maintaining Attorney diaries and coordinating meetings, travel, and expenses
- Preparing cost estimates, invoices, and monitoring work in progress (WIP)
- Maintaining and updating client and case records, including database management

Skills & Experience
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Willingness to learn new systems and processes
- Experience within IP, legal, or professional services environments
- Familiarity with PowerPoint
- Experience using the Inprotech database (training will be provided)
