This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced residential conveyancer looking to take the next step into a senior leadership position, combining hands-on fee-earning work with responsibility for the continued development and performance of the department. The role offers the chance to play a key part in shaping the team's future while maintaining a strong focus on client service and high-quality residential property work.
The Role
- Leading and overseeing the residential conveyancing department
- Managing your own residential conveyancing caseload alongside departmental responsibilities
- Handling a broad range of residential transactions, including sales, purchases, remortgages and transfers of equity
- Providing technical guidance and support to members of the team
- Reviewing and overseeing more complex matters where required
- Monitoring departmental workflow, performance and quality standards
- Supporting the development and progression of junior team members
- Ensuring consistently high levels of client care across the department
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and efficiency
- Contributing to the wider strategic development of the residential property offering

Key Responsibilities
- Taking overall responsibility for the residential conveyancing department
- Managing your own caseload of residential property matters
- Overseeing the quality and progression of departmental files
- Providing technical support and supervision to colleagues
- Allocating work and managing departmental workflow
- Monitoring performance, targets and service standards
- Supporting recruitment, training and development where appropriate
- Dealing with complex or escalated client matters
- Maintaining strong relationships with clients, estate agents, lenders and other professional contacts
- Identifying and implementing improvements to departmental processes
- Contributing to business development and the continued growth of the residential property team
About You
The ideal candidate will be an experienced residential conveyancer with strong leadership skills and the confidence to take responsibility for a busy department. You will have:
- Qualified Solicitor, Licensed Conveyancer or experienced Conveyancing Fee Earner
- Significant experience within residential conveyancing
- Strong technical knowledge across sales, purchases, remortgages and related transactions
- Experience managing your own caseload from instruction through to completion
- Previous supervisory or management experience
- Strong leadership and team-development skills
- Excellent client care and communication skills
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities
- Ability to manage competing priorities and departmental demands
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of departmental performance
- A proactive approach to improving processes and service delivery
- Ambition to play a key role in the continued growth of a residential conveyancing department
