About the Role
The firm seeks a proactive Senior Associate or experienced Associate to join its established Commercial Litigation team in Manchester. You will manage a diverse caseload involving contract disputes, shareholder issues, professional negligence, and debt recovery, working closely with senior colleagues on high-value, multi-party litigation. This role offers excellent scope for career progression, exposure to high-profile matters, and the opportunity to foster lasting client relationships within a forward-thinking department.
Responsibilities:
- Assist senior colleagues on high‑value, multi‑party and complex litigation.
- Draft pleadings, witness statements, instructions to counsel and settlement documentation.
- Conduct legal research and prepare reports, advice notes and litigation strategies.
- Engage in pre‑action correspondence, negotiations and ADR processes including mediation.
- Support clients with pragmatic, commercially minded advice, balancing legal risk with commercial objectives.
- Attend hearings, conferences and client meetings alongside senior team members.
- Contribute to the team’s profile through articles, presentations, training and networking.
- Help develop and maintain long-term client relationships
The Ideal Candidate
- Solid experience in commercial dispute resolution with a strong technical foundation
- Proven ability to manage complex, high-value caseloads independently
- Exceptional drafting, analytical, and communication skills
- Confidence in engaging with clients, senior stakeholders, and external professionals
- A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with commercial awareness
- Ability to mentor junior colleagues and contribute to business development activities
