An exciting opportunity has arisen with a leading international law firm, where continued growth and increasing client demand have created the need for an accomplished Trade Mark Paralegal.
This is more than a portfolio management role. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of complex international Trade Mark work while playing an important part in supporting, developing and coordinating a team of paralegals.
The Role
Working with an impressive client base across a broad range of sectors, you will be involved in the management and protection of Trade Mark portfolios across multiple jurisdictions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supervising and coordinating the work of other Trade Mark Paralegals, including allocating workloads
- Supporting the development of junior colleagues through coaching, technical guidance and knowledge sharing
- Contributing ideas to improve team processes, systems and overall efficiency
- Preparing and managing UK and international Trade Mark applications
- Monitoring and progressing applications through the relevant Trade Mark offices
- Reviewing official correspondence and ensuring appropriate action is taken within required timescales
- Carrying out Trade Mark searches and online research
- Managing renewals and other portfolio maintenance activities
- Communicating with clients and providing clear, commercially focused updates
- Assisting with billing and associated administrative requirements
- Managing competing deadlines across a busy and varied caseload
You will work alongside experienced Trade Mark specialists and have exposure to sophisticated, high-profile client portfolios, giving you the opportunity to broaden both your technical and commercial experience.
Ideally, you will offer:
- CITMA qualification
- At least five years' experience within Trade Marks/IP
- Strong experience managing Trade Mark portfolios, ideally across multiple territories
- A background gained within private practice or an in-house environment
- Previous experience supervising, mentoring or coordinating other paralegals or support professionals
- Excellent organisational skills and close attention to detail
- The ability to prioritise effectively and remain calm when managing a demanding workload
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to explain technical IP matters to non-specialists
- A proactive approach and the ability to take ownership of work
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
Formal people-management experience would be particularly beneficial, but the ability and enthusiasm to lead and develop others is equally important.
